Mardi Himal Trek
Trek Overview:
- Starting Point: Kande, a short drive from Pokhara, where the trek begins with a gradual ascent through rhododendron forests.
- Key Highlights: Australian Camp for panoramic views, Deurali for gateway vibes, and serene forest camp experiences.
- Accommodation: Basic teahouses or lodges along the route, with options to camp in some areas.
- Challenges: Moderate trekking difficulty, with altitude gain as you progress towards High Camp and Base Camp.
- Best Time to Trek: Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) for clear skies and favorable weather.
Day 1: Pokhara to Australian Camp (2000 m)
- Drive from Kathmandu to Kande and trek to Australian camp(approximately 1 hour).
- Begin trekking from Kande through terraced fields and rhododendron forests.
- Overnight in Australian camp.
Day 2: Australian Camp to Forest Camp (2,520m)
- Trek from Kande to Forest Camp via Australian Camp (2,100m).
- Enjoy panoramic views of the Annapurna range from Australian Camp.
- Continue trekking through forested trails to reach Forest Camp.
- Overnight in Forest Camp.
Day 3: Forest Camp to Low Camp (2,970m)
- Trek through dense forests and rhododendron groves.
- Ascend to Low Camp, where the vegetation thins out and offers views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
- Overnight in Low Camp.
Day 4: Low Camp to High Camp (3,580m)
- Trek from Low Camp to High Camp, ascending above the tree line.
- Enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal.
- Overnight in High Camp.
Day 5: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m) and back to High Camp
- Early morning hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp to witness sunrise over the Himalayas.
- Enjoy close-up views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna I, and other peaks.
- Return to High Camp for breakfast and rest.
- Overnight in High Camp.
Day 6: High Camp to Siding Village (1,750m)
- Descend from High Camp to Siding Village, passing through dense forests and traditional Gurung villages.
- Experience local culture and hospitality in Siding Village.
- Overnight in Siding Village.
Day 7: Siding Village to Lumre and drive back to Pokhara
- Trek from Siding Village to Lumre.
- Drive from Lumre back to Pokhara (approximately 2 hours).
- Rest and relax in Pokhara.
Additional Notes:
- Altitude: The highest point reached on this trek is Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500m. Adequate acclimatization is essential.
- Accommodation: Basic teahouses or lodges along the route, with options to camp in some areas.
